Creative Director, Icebergs Group
Restaurateur Maurice Terzini is one of the Australia’s most highly regarded creative entrepreneurs, best known for establishing several truly iconic Australian dining venues. With spectacular dining destinations, such as Icebergs Dining Room and Bar (IDRB) on Bondi Beach in Sydney and Giuseppe Arnaldo & Sons and the influential Melbourne Wine Room, Terzini has set a high benchmark for impeccable dining and is now turning his eye to establishing successful dining destinations in Asia.
Terzini’s gift for dreaming the big picture and executing it, often ahead of his time and breaking ground in ideas, style and locations, have cemented his reputation as one of Australia’s most pioneering identities and it is this standing that he now brings to Da Maria, his new über-cool Italian dining venture, which just recently opened in Bali.
Terzini has been recognised in the industry for almost three decades with his latest addition The Dolphin Hotel being awarded New Pub of the Year at the Australian Bar Awards 2017 on the 19th September. This exceptional award sits alongside a number of others including: The Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide – Silver Service Award 2006, The Vittoria Legend Award 2009, Best New Restaurant of the Year, Best Bar of the Year 2003 and Top 20 Bars in Sydney 2017. The Age Food Awards – Professional Excellence Award 2009, Timeout – Hall of Fame Award 2012, Eat Drink Design Awards – Hall of Fame Award 2015, Australian Bar Tender Awards – Pub Operator of the Year Finalist and Most Influential Top 10. Terzini has also received Australian Gourmet Traveller – Sydney’s Best Bar 2017, Best Italian Restaurant and nominated for Top Wine List in Wine Spectator and by the Australian Chamber of Commerce for the Italian Cultural Recognition Award. Terzini has continued to hold two Hats for Icebergs Dining Room and Bar for 15 years and one Hat at Da Orazio Pizza + Porchetta in 2016.
Terzini is determined to promote the connection between food, wine, music, fashion, art and friends and offer quality to the masses. His sought after New Year’s Day party at IDRB has been a popular attraction for many years and continues to attract a diverse crowd. His fashion label with partner Lucy Hinkfuss, Ten Pieces, launched in 2011 and features just 10 pieces in each collection. In 2015, the duo made headlines after they drained the iconic Icebergs pool for their Fashion Week show in what is now considered a defining moment in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week history.
